George Lucas confirms Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hamill have signed on for Star Wars: Episode VII

Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill

Carrie Fisher has been making headlines this week for confirming to a small, local newspaper that she’s coming back for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII.  The internet was abuzz that this was the first official confirmation that one of the big three was coming back, but then her reps stood up and said she was just joking. Not that we took her reps seriously, but until we have something official, we’re left with speculating if it’s really going to happen.  When it comes to Star Wars, no one is more official than George Lucas and he sat down to talk to Bloomberg Business Week and basically confirms the big three are returning…kind of.  Here’s what he said:

“We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them. I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”  So he kind of confirms, but then he pulls back and leaves open the possibility that they couldn’t work out a deal.  But all the signs point to them coming back, so I think we’re safe assuming that.
